New Thing with Panels

I started making a comic, but I got pretty bored after the first panel.

Monsters

Some monsters I submitted to Steve Wolfhard’s Portrait-dex a while back, though I guess they never made the cut. The concept was to make up three evolutionary stages of a Pokemon that represented yourself, the artist. I guess my main criteria when drawing this was tentacles and kitties, though I think that’s my goal with every drawing I do.

Here is the entry for the second stage, with attacks:

And while we’re still on the Pokemon kick…

Some of these are whatever…Mew always kind of looks the same (it’s hard to make a pudgy pink cat any cuter), Natu looks like Natu, and there have been so many versions of Pikachu throughout the ages that it’s really pretty cliche by now. Having said that, I cannot get over how adorable that Wooper is (bottom right).

Last but not least, some little dudes from a field guide of space monsters that I’ve been fiddling around with for a while.

Animals

Here’s the armadillo I mentioned before. I never DID remember to color him in again, so I included the rough detail layers.

A kingfisher. The day I did this I wanted to draw a cute bird, but when I googled “cute bird” tufted titmice (titmouses?) kept coming up, and I thought it’d seem pretty bizarre to draw a titmouse while working at Titmouse.

A second pose that I never colored.

And an old picture of Commander Shepard that I guess I abandoned before I finished cleaning. I still thought it looked kinda neat with the rough layer showing through though.

The Little Things

Wow, I haven’t updated in ages! I was recently hired full time by the animation studio Titmouse, and between the working hours, commuting hours, sleeping hours, and “OH GOD I’m just going to sit here on the couch with a movie” hours, I haven’t found much time to do anything other than what I just mentioned (I guess). Hopefully at some point I’ll also find time to actually get to know my coworkers instead of hiding behind my computer all day. Blugh.

NONETHELESS, in the meantime I’m putting up a nice, sizable update to satiate this page until I find time again, perhaps in another two months or so. I’m doing it in two parts, animals and monsters, so I don’t just have one grossly long post. Hooray, pictures!

Just One

I drew an anteater. I also drew an armadillo, but like a numskull, I somehow lost the colored version! I’ll have to redo it at a later date when coloring it doesn’t feel as redundant.
